On 13 July, reports emerged in France and Italy that Serie A giants AC Milan had accepted a €62 million double deal from PSG for both Brazilian international Thiago Silva and Swedish captain Zlatan Ibrahimović. On 15 July the Thiago Silva deal was confirmed by the club, and 2 days later PSG director Leonardo confirmed that Ibrahimović was "now a PSG player."

A press conference was called at 3pm local time the following day where Ibrahimović was officially unveiled to the press. Upon his arrival, "Ibra" revealed that completing the move was "a dream come true" and that at PSG he is "here to make history and enjoy all the trophies we bring home."

PSG took their spending beyond the €100 million mark by signing highly rated Italian youngster Marco Verratti for around €10 million. The 19-year-old, rated as one of Europe's best young playmakers, was handed the number 24 shirt and linked up with fellow Italians Salvatore Sirigu and Thiago Motta.

On 8 August, PSG broke their transfer record, and the Ligue 1 transfer record, after signing Brazilian Lucas Rodrigues Moura da Silva, also known as Lucas Moura. The mega signing was rumoured to be in the region of €45 million (around £35 million), €3 million more than the fee paid for previous record holder Javier Pastore.

Unusually for such a huge transfer, Moura was immediately sent back to previous club São Paulo FC, and linked up with his team mates in January 2013. The club officially announced that "by signing a young talent of the quality of Lucas Rodriguez Moura Da Silva, Paris Saint-Germain is already preparing the future.
